Women’s Training Center

Economic independence for women in Nepal begins with access to practical skills and fair opportunities.

In Nepal, entrenched gender norms often deny women access to schooling and vocational training. Many women with little or no formal education are excluded from stable jobs and pushed into insecure, low-wage work, leaving them struggling to provide for themselves and their families.

House with Heart’s Skillful Hands program provides free vocational training in sewing, tailoring, and garment construction. These practical skills can open pathways to paid work in local tailor shops or help graduates start tailoring businesses of their own.

Skillful Hands also supports a small team of felt craft associates who create handmade felt goods sold at craft fairs in the United States and online. Proceeds from these sales directly support the charitable work of House with Heart.

By equipping women with practical, professional skills, Skillful Hands strengthens livelihood, economic independence, and long-term opportunity.
