In Nepal, entrenched gender norms often deny women access to schooling and vocational training. Many women with little or no education are excluded from stable jobs and forced into insecure, low-wage work, leaving them struggling to provide for themselves and their families.
Our Skillful Hands program offers both training and employment.
Women attend free classes where they learn sewing, tailoring, and garment construction—skills that can lead to sustainable income. Many graduates go on to start small businesses or secure jobs in local tailor shops.
Skillful Hands also employs women to create handmade felt goods. These products are sold at craft fairs in the United States and online, with 100% of proceeds directly supporting the charitable work of House with Heart.
By equipping women with both practical skills and income-generating opportunities, Skillful Hands helps break cycles of poverty, fostering resilience, dignity, and long-term economic independence.
